Bailiff leaves Jamal Yunos’s home empty-handed

PETALING JAYA: A court bailiff attempted to execute a writ of seizure and sale today at the residence of Umno’s Jamal Yunos, after he failed to settle RM50,000 in legal costs awarded in a defamation suit filed by Seputeh MP Teresa Kok.
The costs are part of a 2022 ruling in which Jamal was found liable for defaming Kok over allegations linked to Yayasan Warisan Anak Selangor funds.
The High Court had ordered him to pay RM300,000 in damages along with the costs.
While he paid the damages, the outstanding legal costs remain unsettled.
Kok’s lawyer, SN Nair, said despite the demands, Jamal has not paid the RM50,000 in costs, leading to the writ’s execution at his last known address at Ampang Jaya this morning.

Nair said upon arrival, the bailiff, accompanied by lawyer L Narendran of SN Nair & Partners and a security officer, found no one present and left the premises after waiting for 15 minutes.
He said the law firm will now seek an order for forced entry, with a hearing date to be set soon.
Jamal exhausted his legal appeals earlier this year when the Federal Court upheld the lower court’s decisions.
