Family recalls Mini Cooper dream of student found with 61 stab wounds 

KOTA BARU: Just last Saturday we sent our sister back for a new semester, but today we received very sad news,” said the brother of a young woman who died after being stabbed 61 times in Kampung Simah, Ketereh, here, at midnight yesterday.

Mohd Faris Zulkifly, 21, said his family was contacted by police at about 12.30pm today regarding the news involving his sister, Nurfisya Zulkifly, 19, but they were not given the full details, including that she had been stabbed.

“At that time, I only heard police say my sister had died and I could not bear to hear further details, so I ended the call.

“Without delay, we immediately travelled from Kuala Kangsar, Perak, to Kelantan and arrived at the forensic unit of Hospital Raja Perempuan Zainab II (HRPZ II) at 8pm.

“Just last Saturday we came here to send her off to start her new semester, and we never expected news like this,” he said when met tonight.

The victim was found by villagers at about 12.30am, lying in a pool of blood with injuries from the face to the legs, mostly concentrated on the right side of the body.

Mohd Faris said the family initially did not know about the tragedy until they read online news while arriving in Jeli in the afternoon.

He said his parents were unable to control their emotions and cried continuously after learning that she had died.

“We only found out she had been stabbed while we were on the way here (Kelantan) this afternoon after reading news online. It was a huge shock,” he said.

Mohd Faris said no unusual changes were noticed in Nurfisya, but during her recent break in Perak she had expressed a desire to eat her favourite foods, including ayam penyet.

“She also mentioned her dream of owning a Mini Cooper and planned to buy one after completing her studies and getting a job.

“She had just entered her third semester and her course duration is seven semesters in total. She said she wanted a Mini Cooper once she started working.

“Our family hopes the perpetrator is caught as soon as possible and given appropriate punishment,” he said, adding that he was also a former student of the same college,” he said, according to Berita Harian.
