Zizie Izette acquitted of corruption charges, hopes to move on

After a seven-year battle, actress Datin Seri Zizie Izette Abdul Samad has finally been acquitted and discharged of three charges related to abetting in a corruption case involving RM2.8 million in investments with Public Mutual Berhad unit trusts.
The Sessions Court reached this ruling after the defence successfully raised reasonable doubt regarding the prosecution’s case.
Zizie, 47, expressed gratitude and thanked the court, her legal team, family, and all those who supported her throughout the legal battle.
She shared that she hoped to be able to move forward now that the court case is done because she’s now a single mother and looking after five children on her own.
She also wished her late husband, Datuk Seri Bung Mokhtar Radin, was beside her when the verdict was delivered.

On 16 January, Bung Mokhtar was acquitted of all three charges he had faced, after the prosecution withdrew its case against him following his death on 5 December 2025 from complications linked to a severe lung infection and kidney failure. This left Zizie to face trial alone.
