PETALING JAYA: A few Parti Bangsa Malaysia (PBM) leaders at the state and division level have quit the party with immediate effect, a decision that has left president Larry Sng unfazed, as he believes they made a mistake.

Among those who handed in their resignation was Krishna Govinth, the deputy information chief.

Krishna, who was also the Selangor PBM secretary, said more leaders were expected to follow suit.

He told FMT they decided to leave because the party’s direction and principles no longer aligned with theirs.

He, however, said the party’s leadership had done their best over the years “under difficult political circumstances”.

“I believe the time has come for individuals, regardless of how small their role may be, to step forward and contribute towards a movement that is gaining momentum and offering hope for real change,” he said.

As of last year, PBM had about 100,000 members nationwide.

When contacted, Sng said he was not losing sleep over their departure.

“Politics is a long road for some, but not for others. I personally feel that those who left have made a mistake, but since they are young, it is good for them to learn it the hard way,” he said.

The Julau MP also said he expects other people to take the place of those who had resigned.

“There are other notable politicians who have expressed interest in joining the party,” he said.

Last month, it was reported that former DAP strongman Ronnie Liu was expected to enlist with the party.

Sng also said he would not welcome those who resigned today back to the party’s fold in the distant future.

“A good horse does not turn back to eat the grass behind,” he said, quoting a Chinese proverb.
