Son killed in Karak Highway crash was to marry next year, says lawyer
PETALING JAYA: Lawyer Akberdin Abdul Kader, the father of one of the three people who died in a crash with a cement lorry on the Karak Highway today, said his son had intended to get married next year.
Akberdin said his son, Adli Hakim, 24, had planned to marry close friend Athirah Najwa Tajul Ashikin, 27, who was seriously injured in the incident.
Athirah was supposed to be my son’s future wife. We had already planned for them to get married next year,” Bernama reported him as saying at the Section 21 Muslim cemetery in Shah Alam.
The car carrying Adli Hakim and three others is believed to have skidded before crashing into the lorry at about 2.15am.
Ameer Ashraf Khairul Annuar, 24, and Afiq Jamal Abdul Nasir, 26, were also killed.
Athirah was admitted to Selayang Hospital.

Adli Hakim’s remains were taken for a post-mortem at 3pm and later brought to the Section 7 mosque for funeral rites where hundreds of worshippers attended the prayers, before he was laid to rest at 6.05pm.
More than 200 family members and friends, including deputy inspector-general of police Ayob Khan Mydin Pitchay, were present.
Akberdin said he learned about the incident after his eldest son received a call from a friend of the victims, who was travelling in another vehicle behind them on the way back from Genting Highlands.

He said his family continued to pray for Athirah’s recovery, noting that she had regained consciousness and begun asking about the incident.
Akberdin is representing Rosmah Mansor in her appeal to set aside her conviction and sentence in the RM1.25 billion solar hybrid project corruption case in 2022.
