KOTA BARU: Pas is looking into the possibility of reactivating the Perikatan Nasional Plus (PN+) formula, an expanded coalition involving existing component parties as well as new political groups aligned with the opposition bloc.

Pas deputy president Datuk Seri Tuan Ibrahim Tuan Man said the proposal was among the recommendations made during the party’s recent syura council meeting.

“At the syura council meeting on Sunday, we discussed our ties with Bersatu.

“Among the recommendations put forward by council members was the formation of PN+.

“Pas is now focusing on establishing this. If the initiative does not materialise, we will consider other options. For now, we will work towards making it a success,” said the Kubang Kerian member of parliament.

Tuan Ibrahim, who is also PN deputy chairman, said the proposal was among several suggestions aimed at strengthening and improving the coalition

It is understood that the syura council recommended that the “Reset” movement led by former Bersatu deputy president Datuk Seri Hamzah Zainudin be a part of PN+.

“Among parties being considered (for PN+) are Pejuang, Berjasa and others, including Umno.”

Tuan Ibrahim said PN+ would include parties seeking to join the coalition.

“For Pas, those who were expelled from Bersatu are free to join PN as they continue to support the coalition.”

Asked if Pas would consider forging its own path outside PN if efforts to establish PN+ failed, Tuan Ibrahim said the matter would be examined in greater detail at a later stage.

PN comprises Pas, Bersatu, Gerakan and the Malaysian Indian People’s Party.
