EC office in S’wak closes till Aug 2 after worker tests positive for Covid-19

The Election Commission’s office in Sarawak has been closed until August 2 after one of its staff was found to be positive for Covid-19.

EC secretary Ikmalrudin Ishak said the closure was as according to the standard operating procedure issued by the Health Ministry.

He said all staff who came into close contact with their infected colleague have been ordered to undergo swab test.

They have also been ordered to undergo 14 days of home quarantine.

“The operations of the state EC office will be closed until the quarantine period ends.

“This is because there will be no staff on duty throughout the quarantine period,” he said in a statement on Thursday (July 23).

Ikmalrudin said the office premises and its surrounding has been cleaned and disinfected to prevent the spreading of the Covid-19 virus.
