JOHOR BARU: The cabinet has decided to review the implementation of the e-Invoice system, Deputy Prime Minister Datuk Seri Ahmad Zahid Hamidi said.

He said the decision was made because the implementation of the e-Invoice system was seen as placing a significant burden on the business community.

“Following calls from Barisan Nasional and its ministers, and with the agreement of ministers from other parties, the implementation of e-Invoice has been agreed to be reviewed.

“This is a good decision for the business community throughout the country,” he said at a community programme at the BN Main Operations Centre for the Iskandar Puteri state constituency here tonight.

Also present was the BN candidate for Iskandar Puteri, Datuk Pandak Ahmad.

Zahid, who is also BN chairman, said the cabinet had also decided to review the policy requiring employers to contribute two per cent of foreign workers’ wages to the Employees Provident Fund (EPF).

“Any company or industry employing foreign workers is required to contribute about two per cent of their wages to the EPF.

“The cabinet has decided, following our request (BN), that the two per cent contribution should also be reviewed and appropriate flexibility be considered.

“This is because the two per cent contribution is seen as burdening the business community. That is the second decision made by the government,” he said.
