Paul Yong trial: Indonesian maid arrives to give testimony in closed court

The Indonesian maid who was allegedly raped by Perak state executive council member Paul Yong Choo Kiong arrived at the Ipoh lower court complex at 8am Monday (Nov 11) to give her testimony.

The victim, who is protected under the Witness Protection Act, will give her testimony in a closed court.

The media, which had been waiting outside the complex since 7.30am, were told that the maid – who is the first witness –arrived in a car belonging to the Prime Minister’s Department.

Both the media and Yong’s supporters were not allowed to go into the court complex and had to wait outside the main gate.



Some 200 supporters of Yong were seen waiting outside the courthouse holding banners.

Yong, who was dressed in a grey suit, arrived at about 8.55am in a black BMW and waved and shook hands with his supporters.

Yong has claimed trial to a charge of raping his 23-year-old maid at his home here.

According to the charge sheet, he allegedly committed the act in a room on the top floor of his house in Meru Desa Park between 8.15pm and 9.15pm on July 7.



Yong’s lead council is Datuk Rajpal Singh and the case is prosecuted by Deputy Public Prosecutor Azhar Mokhtar.
