Umno protest resolved, says PN candidate in Klawang

He said this was a normal occurrence when two grand coalitions cooperate, Berita Harian reported.

“Thankfully, everything has been resolved. We hope that the campaign will proceed smoothly from now on,” he said, thanking BN for its help in ironing out the matter.

“Our goal is to defeat Pakatan Harapan (PH), so we must work as one in that direction,” he said, adding that several BN and PN bigwigs were expected to help him campaign.

Under their electoral pact for the Negeri Sembilan election, BN is contesting 25 seats while PN is vying for the remaining 11.

The Umno branches had shuttered BN’s district centre in Klawang as well as various operation rooms in protest of the leadership’s decision to allow PN to contest the seat.

Klawang is witnessing a three-cornered contest involving Danni, PH’s Bakri Sawir and Bersatu candidate Adib Musa.

Umno had held Klawang since 1986 before Bakri wrested the seat for PH in 2018.

In the 2023 state polls, Danni also challenged Bakri for the seat but lost by 577 votes. PH and BN had an electoral pact at the time.
