MACC visits KWAP HQ in eFishery probe

KUALA LUMPUR: Investigators from the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) visited the Retirement Fund Inc (KWAP) headquarters here earlier this week as part of investigation into the fund’s reported RM200 million loss after investing in Indonesian aquaculture technology company eFishery.
It is understood that investigators were at the office on Monday and Tuesday, where they collected documents related to the investment.
MACC chief commissioner Datuk Seri Abd Halim Aman gave his assurance that the commission would provide an update on the investigation.
“We will release a statement on the latest developments,” he told the New Straits Times without elaborating.
The MACC probe is understood to cover KWAP’s governance, decision-making processes and compliance when approving the investment, as well as whether any criminal misconduct or corruption was involved in the transaction.
