KOTA TINGGI: Two women were killed in a crash involving two cars at KM71 on the Mersing Road heading towards this district, this afternoon, the Fire and Rescue Department said.

In the accident, a man travelling in the Proton Persona was injured.

Operations commander, Senior Fire Officer I Saiful Afiz Sidek, said the department received an emergency call at 4.54pm before deploying 11 personnel to the scene.

“Upon arrival, the operations team confirmed a road accident involving a Proton Persona and a Perodua Bezza.

“There were three victims in the Proton Persona and none were trapped. Two were confirmed dead, while a 56-year-old man was injured.

“The driver of the Perodua Bezza was also injured,” he said in a statement today.

He said all the victims were extricated from the vehicles and the injured were given initial treatment by Health Ministry personnel.

The bodies of the deceased were handed over to police, and the operation ended at 6.25pm.
