Sue Annuar if what he said is not true, Putrajaya Umno deputy chief tells Zahid
PETALING JAYA: An Umno division leader this evening challenged party president Ahmad Zahid Hamidi to make a statutory declaration to deny allegations that he had backed Anwar Ibrahim to be the next prime minister.
Tun Faisal Ismail Aziz, who is Putrajaya Umno division deputy chief, said Zahid and former Umno president Najib Razak must also take legal action and lodge a police report to defend themselves from such allegations made by Annuar Musa, who was recently removed from his post as Barisan Nasional secretary-general.
Tun Faizal urged Zahid to also clarify whether the party had any intention of working with DAP or Anwar as some members said the president would be violating party policies if he had done so.
“Once he issues the statutory declaration, we can support the president again. In the case of Najib, he should bring the case to the disciplinary board for it to determine his position.
“The letter has been exposed by Annuar. If it is fake, then sue him and make a police report,” Tun Faizal told FMT.
Following his ousting as BN secretary-general, Annuar had claimed that the party’s leadership was working with DAP to form a new government and that Zahid had sent a letter to the King in support of Anwar becoming prime minister.
Tun Faisal said the party president and Najib needed to act immediately to stop all the confusion.
He said some supporters and grassroots members had begun to raise doubts over Zahid continuing to lead the party.
