Pas ready to explain PN crisis complaint to RoS, says Takiyuddin

KOTA BARU: Pas is ready to provide an explanation to the Registrar of Societies (RoS) if the regulator seeks clarification over a complaint concerning the crisis within Perikatan Nasional (PN), said its secretary-general Datuk Seri Takiyuddin Hassan.

He said it was the right of any party to lodge a complaint with the RoS, adding that it was up to the regulator to decide whether further action was warranted.

“Let the RoS make the decision. If the RoS asks us for an explanation, we will provide it,” he told reporters in Pengkalan Chepa here tonight.

Takiyuddin, who is also PN secretary-general, said Pas was currently unaware of the nature of the complaint referred to by Bersatu information chief Datuk Tun Faisal Ismail Aziz.

“So far, we do not know what his complaint is,” he said.

On cooperation within PN, Takiyuddin said component parties should use the coalition for the benefit of all its members.

He said Pas had never refused to allow Bersatu to use the PN logo, but the party had chosen to contest an election independently.

“We cannot force them, and we have never refused to give them the PN logo. But they chose not to accept it and that is up to them,” he said.

Earlier, Tun Faisal urged the RoS to intervene in the ongoing PN crisis, alleging that Pas had taken unilateral actions that infringed on the rights of other component parties and contravened the PN Constitution.

Last Friday, PN chairman Tan Sri Abdul Hadi Awang said Bersatu had automatically ceased to be a PN member after announcing plans to form a new coalition. Bersatu secretary-general Datuk Seri Mohamed Azmin Ali rejected the claim, saying there was no provision in the PN Constitution for automatic termination of a component party’s membership.
