Negri Sembilan polls: BN manifesto not copied from PH, says Zahid

PORT DICKSON: Datuk Seri Dr Ahmad Zahid Hamidi said there was no basis to claim that Barisan Nasional had copied or “copy-pasted” the Pakatan Harapan manifesto for the Negri Sembilan election.

He said the substance of BN’s manifesto was not new, but rather the result of the party’s continuous efforts over many years.

“There is no question of ‘copy-pasting’ because from 2004 to 2018, we had formulated those manifestos.

“What is being done now is to improve on what already exists,” he told reporters after an event with the Indian community here.

Zahid also warned BN’s rivals against making baseless accusations merely to gain political mileage.

“We did not view what they did in Johor previously as ‘copy-pasting’, so they should not accuse us of doing the same thing,” he said.

He said BN’s main focus now was to continue development agendas that were stalled after the 14th General Election in 2018.

“We share the same objective, which is to continue the agendas that were stalled when BN failed to secure enough seats to form the government in 2018.

“As such, Datuk Seri Mohamad Hasan, as the Negri Sembilan BN chairman, certainly has the right to continue this agenda.

“I am confident that he will do so better with the support of the leadership and BN component parties in Negri Sembilan,” he said.

It was previously reported that caretaker Menteri Besar Datuk Seri Aminuddin Harun claimed that BN’s manifesto, announced yesterday, had largely imitated the manifesto or initiatives introduced and implemented by the state PH government under his leadership.
