Cops probe video of assault on teen at JB bus station

JOHOR BARU: Police are investigating an assault on a teenager at a bus station here after a video of the incident went viral on social media.

The seven-second clip showed the teenager on the station floor while two men appeared to be attacking him, as a commuter attempted to break up the fight.

Johor Baru (South) police chief Assistant Commissioner Azrul Hisham Mohd Shaffei said a policeman lodged a report over the altercation at 4.30pm on Friday.

The incident had occurred earlier at 7.27am.

Police are investigating the case under Section 160 of the Penal Code for affray, which carries a jail term of up to six months, a fine of up to RM1,000, or both, upon conviction.

The motive behind the incident has yet to be established, while efforts are underway to identify and trace those involved, Azrul said in a statement today.
