Malay rulers warn against politicising Negeri Sembilan dispute

PETALING JAYA: The Malay rulers have urged all parties involved in the Negeri Sembilan royal dispute to exercise wisdom and patience, resolve their differences through lawful channels and warned against outsiders interfering in or politicising the crisis.
They said any difference should also be resolved “courteously and according to custom” and in accordance with the 1959 Constitution of Negeri Sembilan.
“Opportunities for negotiations must be utilised in good faith to reach a dignified outcome without demeaning or insulting any party.
“The throne is a trust that carries great responsibility to the state and the people,” they said in a statement issued by the Keeper of the Rulers’ Seal following the 273rd Meeting of the Conference of Rulers.
The Rulers also urged outside parties not to interfere in or politicise the crisis, saying efforts to resolve it should be left to the relevant parties and authorities.
