‘Outsiders, PM and AGC should not interfere in Negeri Sembilan throne affairs’ – Undang Yang Empat

“The Menteri Besar and Exco have absolutely no such power; rather, they were merely carrying out their constitutional duty to comply with our decision as the Undang Yang Empat under Article 10 UUTKNS 1959, while also safeguarding our position as the Ruling Rulers of this state as enshrined in Article 28 UUTKNS 1959,” they said.

They also reminded the Prime Minister and the Attorney General’s Chambers (AGC) not to interfere in the governance of Negeri Sembilan.

They said that if such unconstitutional action were to continue, it would constitute a breach of the Prime Minister’s oath under the Sixth Schedule, as well as a breach of trust under Article 71 of the Federal Constitution.

They further stressed that all outside parties with no connection to Malay customary affairs and the governance of this state government, particularly opposition political parties, should not fish in troubled waters.

They insisted further that no one should twist the people’s mandate to the point of issuing offensive remarks against the state government, the Institution of Adat and the governance of Negeri Sembilan.

“This custom, which has been practised for more than 500 years, means that we, as the Ruling Rulers and Heads of Adat, certainly understand better what has taken place.

“We stress that Tunku Muhriz’s action in ordering the announcement to dismiss the Exco members was wrong, unconstitutional and has no force of law,” they said.

The customary chiefs also alleged that the action was unprecedented in the modern history of Negeri Sembilan, besides being an attempt to prevent the Ruling Ruler from carrying out his governance.
