Bersama skips Negeri Sembilan polls to focus on Melaka

SHAH ALAM – Parti Bersama Malaysia (Bersama) has confirmed that it will not participate in the upcoming Negeri Sembilan state election, choosing instead to focus its resources entirely on preparing for the Melaka state election.
The decision was announced in a joint statement issued on behalf of Bersama by senior party leaders Rafizi Ramli, Nik Nazmi Nik Ahmad, and Syukri Razab today.
According to the leadership, the strategic withdrawal was decided after considering several key factors, including the highly competitive landscape expected between Pakatan Harapan (PH) and Barisan Nasional (BN) in Negeri Sembilan, alongside PH’s current position as the incumbent state government.
Additionally, the party noted that the outcome of the Negeri Sembilan polls could potentially impact sensitive local political issues, including ongoing matters connected to the institution of the Yang di-Pertuan Besar of Negeri Sembilan.
“Taking into account these factors, as well as time and resource constraints, Bersama believes it is more strategic to shift our focus to the Melaka State Election, which will be held in a few months,” the leaders stated in the joint statement.

“Accordingly, Bersama will not participate in the Negeri Sembilan state election in order to give full focus to preparations for the Melaka state election.”
The statement further revealed that an initial preparatory meeting for the Melaka polls has been scheduled for July 21. This session aims to identify target seats for contest and initiate an early candidate screening process so that the final lineup can be announced well ahead of schedule.
Ahead of the Melaka campaign, Bersama will host an appreciation ceremony this coming Sunday (July 19) at its headquarters in Puchong to thank volunteers who served during the recent Johor state election, which will be followed by a community viewing event for the World Cup final.
Rafizi, Nik Nazmi, and Syukri expressed their deep gratitude to party members and volunteers who had expressed their readiness to deploy to Negeri Sembilan, despite still recovering from the exhausting Johor election campaign.
