Nik Nazmi to appeal after losing in Setiawangsa

PETALING JAYA: PKR vice-president Nik Nazmi Nik Ahmad will file an appeal after failing to defend his Setiawangsa division chief post today.

Nik Nazmi, a federal minister and two-term Setiawangsa MP, said he will use the party’s proper channels to raise several “issues” that surfaced during the divisional election.

“This is part of our commitment to ensuring that the party election is carried out with integrity and fairness,” he said in a statement.

He thanked his supporters and machinery for helping with his election campaign and said he would let the appeals process run its course.

Nik Nazmi was defeated by actor-comedian Afdlin Shauki to the post, after garnering 563 votes to Afdlin’s 631. Afdlin first challenged for the post in 2022 but lost to Nik Nazmi.
