Umno Putrajaya met not about Tun Faisal, says division info chief

The Umno Putrajaya division meeting yesterday discussed matters related to the party and its preparation for the 15th General Election (GE15), not about former Special Affairs Department (Jasa) director Tun Faisal Ismail Aziz.

The division’s information chief Senator Datuk Mohd Hisamudin Yahaya said during the meeting, the people’s agenda was the main focus, adding that they had also discussed the well-being of civil servants working in Putrajaya.

Hisamudin said this in response to Tun Faisal’s claim earlier today that there were attempts to expel him from Umno.

“Yes, there was a meeting yesterday but the meeting deliberated on many matters and (reviewed) reports from bureaus for our GE15 preparation.

“Where did Tun Faisal get his information from? If he is not in the wrong, why is he worried? Didn’t he say before that he’s on the right side? So why get upset? Just wait for the decision on his appeal.

“It is far better for us to talk about people’s welfare and hold programmes that can help local residents in facing Covid-19 (pandemic),” he said in a statement today.

Tun Faisal claimed that Putrajaya division chief Datuk Seri Tengku Adnan Tengku Mansor was unhappy with the Umno Appeals Board’s decision for only suspending him.

According to Tun Faisal, Tengku Adnan had ordered the Putrajaya division to move for his sacking, a claim which the Putrajaya member of parliament had yet to respond to.

The Umno supreme council had on March 27 last year suspended Tun Faisal over an alleged breach of party discipline.

Local daily Utusan Malaysia at the time claimed that Tengku Adnan was the mastermind behind Tun Faisal’s disciplinary report, supposedly for the latter’s criticism against Umno president Datuk Seri Dr Ahmad Zahid Hamidi. Nst
