Melaka election: Bersatu to use own logo

MELAKA: Bersatu will use its official party logo in the 16th Melaka election on Nov 14, said its secretary-general Datuk Seri Mohamed Azmin Ali.

Azmin, who is also the party election director, said he had sent an official letter to the Election Commission last week regarding the confirmation of the party’s logo usage in the state election.

“I have sent a letter to the Election Commission and the use of the Bersatu logo has been approved by Bersatu president Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin,” he told reporters today.

He said this after officiating the Bersatu candidate announcement ceremony in Baitul Tariq, Klebang, here tonight.

Also present at the event was Bersatu vice-president Datuk Dr Mohd Radzi Md Jidin.

Commenting on the eight seats contested by Bersatu in the Melaka polls, Azmin said all those seats were seen as having the potential to be won by the party.

He said Bersatu is expected to clash with Pakatan Harapan candidates in the four seats, namely in Kelebang, Gadek, Ayer Keroh and Pangkalan Batu.

However, he said the party will leave it to the wisdom of the people of Melaka to make their choice.

“In the context of elections, overlap or clashes mean that the parties involved will compete, but we take the stance that this competition is a healthy competition in a democratic system.

“We will not practice ‘gutter politics’ or slander, we will offer party policies … we are a party that cares for the people, focusing on issues of the economy, growth and job creation,” he said.

Radzi had earlier announced that Bersatu will contest in eight seats namely Lendu, Gadek, Sungai Udang, Pantai Kundor, Kelebang, Pengkalan Batu, Ayer Keroh and Bemban.
