Ex-senior Felda officer to be charged tomorrow

KUALA LUMPUR: A former senior Felda officer who was previously investigated for misappropriation in connection with the Kuala Lumpur Vertical City (KLVC) project will be charged at the Kuala Lumpur sessions court tomorrow.

Based on a court system check, the man will be charged in criminal sessions court 14 before judge Suzana Hussin at 9am.

Meanwhile, the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) said it had obtained the green light to charge the former senior Felda officer.

On Sept 25, MACC chief commissioner Abd Halim Aman said a former Felda director-general would be charged with one count of cheating under Section 420 of the Penal Code.

The KLVC investigation is part of seven investigation papers involving Felda and Felda Investment Corporation Sdn Bhd (FIC), comprising six new investigation papers and one previous investigation.

The investigation focusses on the purchase and investment of assets by Felda and FIC between 2010 and 2020, which are suspected to involve corruption, misappropriation, and abuse of power.

Earlier today, former FIC CEO Zaid Abdul Jalil was charged with deceiving the company’s board of directors in relation to the proposed commercial development of Felda land in a 2014 project.

He pleaded not guilty after two charges were read before judge Rosli Ahmad.
