MACC arrests former minister over Tabung Haji issue

KUALA LUMPUR: The Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) has detained a former minister in its investigations into issues raised by the Royal Commission of Inquiry (RCI) into Lembaga Tabung Haji (TH).
The RCI was established to examine the management and operations of TH, including allegations concerning its financial position, governance and investment decisions. Its findings and recommendations have since been referred to the relevant authorities for further action.
The male suspect, in his 60s, was detained at about 4.30pm on Tuesday (Sept 1) after he turned up at the MACC headquarters in Putrajaya to have his statement recorded.
MACC chief commissioner Datuk Seri Abd Halim Aman confirmed the arrest.
He said the case was being investigated under Section 16(a)(A) of the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission

Abd Halim added that the suspect would be brought before the Putrajaya Magistrate’s Court on Wednesday (Sept 2) to be remanded.
