My son was stabbed while helping a friend, says mum of Malaysian killed in South Korea

GOMBAK – The 26-year-old Malaysian fatally stabbed in South Korea went to the aid of a friend who was allegedly being assaulted by a group of men, says his grieving mother.

Zulfah Fadliani, 47, said her eldest son, Ahmad Shah Ahmad Ros, was at home with his wife, Nurcahaya Ruslan, 30, when he received a call from a fellow Malaysian seeking help on Saturday (July 25) night.

She said Ahmad Shah, known for his willingness to help others, left the house with his wife to defuse the situation.

“My daughter-in-law, who followed Ahmad Shah to the location, told me that some men, including my son’s friend, were being attacked by another group of Malaysian men.

“When my son tried to break up the fight, he was stabbed in the stomach by one of the men, who then fled the scene,” she said when met at the family’s home in Bandar Tasik Puteri, Rawang, on Monday.

The incident reportedly occurred at about 9pm (South Korean time) in Daeso-eup, Eumseong County, North Chungcheong Province.

Zulfah said Ahmad Shah suffered severe injuries and lost a significant amount of blood before he was rushed to hospital.

She said Nurcahaya called her at about 1.30am on Sunday to inform her of the incident.

“I knew something was terribly wrong when I heard her crying. She told me my son had been seriously injured after being stabbed during a fight.

“I managed to see him fighting for his life while he was receiving treatment through a video call with my daughter-in-law.

“But Allah loved him more, and he was pronounced dead at about 3.30am,” she said.

Zulfah said the last time she spoke to her son was at about 6pm on Saturday and he did not mention any problems.

She described Ahmad Shah as a responsible son who regularly called to check on her health and the well-being of other family members.

“He was also surrounded by many close friends and was always willing to help those in need.

“He chose to work in South Korea’s manufacturing sector in 2019 to support the family and help provide for his parents and two younger siblings.

“He was a loving son who always shared his thoughts and problems with me,” she said.

Zulfah and her husband Ahmad Ros Abidin, 55, urged the public not to spread unfounded speculation about their son’s death.

They expressed hope that the South Korean authorities would bring the person responsible to justice. – THE STAR
