Haze: Serian worst-hit area in Sarawak, four areas record very unhealthy API readings

PETALING JAYA: Serian in Sarawak remains among the hardest hit by the current transboundary haze with an Air Pollutant Index (API) of 355 recorded there as of noon on Thursday (Sept 3).
This puts air quality there firmly in the hazardous range, while four other locations nationwide recorded very unhealthy API readings, according to the Department of Environment’s Air Pollutant Index Management System.
Areas that recorded very unhealthy readings are Sri Aman (288), Kuching (277), Samarahan (261) and Sarikei (217).
Some 15 locations nationwide meanwhile recorded unhealthy readings, with API readings ranging between 101 and 200.
They are Sibu, Bintulu, Mukah, Kapit, Samalaju, Limbang and ILP Miri in Sarawak; Politeknik Kota Kinabalu, Keningau, Kimanis, Kota Kinabalu and Tawau in Sabah; Labuan, Nilai in Negri Sembilan and Johan Setia in Klang.
