Man held over wife’s death after fall from moving van

KUALA LUMPUR – Police have detained a 50-year-old man in connection with the death of his wife, who was believed to have fallen from a moving van on the Shah Alam Expressway (Kesas Highway) near the Awan Besar Rest and Service (R&R) area, heading towards Petaling Jaya yesterday.
Cheras Police Chief ACP Aidil Bolhassan said the suspect was arrested at around 6 pm yesterday in the Bandar Kinrara area and that the case is being investigated under Section 304A of the Penal Code for causing death by negligence.
“Based on preliminary investigations, the suspect admitted to having a heated argument with his wife (the victim) during their journey home,” he said in a statement today.
The couple had reportedly been married for 20 years and have two children.
According to Aidil, a urine test conducted on the suspect came back positive for methamphetamine, amphetamine and benzodiazepine.
