Stay together for GE15 and beyond, PAS tells partners

KLUANG: The country needs the political cooperation between PAS, PPBM and Umno to continue up to, and beyond, the next general election, PAS deputy president Tuan Ibrahim Tuan Man said today.

He advised leaders of the three parties to continue supporting the current Perikatan Nasional government, led by PPBM and to minimise internal politics so that more focus can be given to solve issues plaguing the people affected by the Covid-19 pandemic.

“And I am confident that this political cooperation is not only for the parties but for the future of the whole country. Any political decision involves the future of the country, so for PAS, we feel that all three parties need to continue with the cooperation not only up to the general election (GE15) but until after it,” he told reporters here.

He said disputes should be resolved through negotiations.

Tuan Ibrahim said this when commenting on a statement by senior Umno member Annuar Musa that Umno, PAS and PPBM were not enemies but rivals, all three being Malay parties with similar goals and struggles.

He said their enemies were those that had different ideologies. A certain “call” made by someone was simply aimed at hiding the person’s actual intention of working with “the real enemy”, Annuar said, adding that confusion arose when certain people tried to hide their intention of working with the real enemy.
