Debt from ‘kutu’ scheme possibly behind disappearance of family of three — police

JITRA – Police are investigating whether the disappearance of a family of three from their home in Bukit Kayu Hitam since July 20 is linked to a debt-related issue.

Kubang Pasu district police chief Superintendent Mohd Radzi Abdul Rahim said police received a report from a victim against the missing individuals, who are believed to have been involved in a “kutu” scheme.

He said investigations would be carried out thoroughly and police are not ruling out the possibility that debt-related issues could be linked to the disappearance of the family.

“The investigation is still ongoing as a missing persons case and police are urging the public to provide information if they come across them.

“Investigations are also being conducted from all aspects, including the possibility that they may have fallen victim to a crime or an accident,” he said.

Previously, an elderly person lodged a police report after claiming that her daughter, son-in-law and grandchild had been unreachable since July 20.

The report was lodged at the Bukit Kayu Hitam Police Station on Monday following concerns over the safety of the three family members.

The missing trio are Khairul Azhar Ahmad, 39, his wife Siti Zulaikha Ahmad Sabri, 36, and their nine-year-old son, Adid Khairul Azhar, who is a pupil at Sekolah Kebangsaan (SK) Felda Batu 8, Changlun.

Radzi said the three family members have yet to be located, while checks showed that no overseas movements involving them had been recorded so far.
