Police station chief in KL under probe for alleged corruption, power abuse

KUALA LUMPUR: Police are investigating allegations of corruption and abuse of power involving the chief of a police station here.
Kuala Lumpur police chief Comm Datuk Fadil Marsus said the investigation is being conducted to verify the claims.
“The district police chief and the Integrity and Standards Compliance Department have been instructed to investigate the matter.
Comm Fadil said the officer’s statement had been recorded and that the officer remained on duty.
Recently, allegations surfaced claiming that a police inspector had forced his subordinates to collect “protection money” from gambling premises and massage parlours in the Wangsa Maju area.
The allegations were made through screenshots that went viral on social media.
The inspector was also accused of ordering his subordinates to extort foreign nationals and of bringing guest relations officers (GROs) to the police station.
