PETALING JAYA: Home Minister Datuk Seri Saifuddin Nasution Ismail (pic) will not be contesting the deputy president post in the upcoming PKR polls, his aide confirms.

Saifuddin’s special functions officer, Omar Mokhtar A Manap, confirmed that Saifuddin would not be contesting for the position in the 2025 PKR party polls after discussions with several top party leaders.

Omar Mokhtar added that Saifuddin sends his regards to all party members and urges them to remain steadfast in their struggle and work hard to strengthen the party.

“The two important matters are the need to win the 16th General Election and the effort to secure Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim’s second term, God willing,” he told Sinar Harian.

Earlier, Nurul Izzah Anwar announced her candidacy for the position of PKR deputy president for the 2025-2028 term, while Datuk Seri Rafizi Ramli announced that he will be defending his post.
