‘RM94mil found’ claim
KUALA LUMPUR: Former human resources minister V Sivakumar will refer Pendang MP Awang Hashim to Parliament’s rights and privileges committee over a claim he made in the Dewan Rakyat yesterday.
Sivakumar, the Batu Gajah MP, said Awang’s claim that the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission had found RM94 million in cash at the home of a former minister from DAP was a “baseless political attack”.
“I do not know who he was referring to, but given the facts he mentioned, it appears he was pointing the finger at me.”
He urged the PAS MP to retract his statement since MACC had also denied the claim.

“MACC has issued an official statement denying any such incident or statement made by its chief commissioner. This not only addresses the false perception created but also clears my name,” he said.
Yesterday, Awang said the revelation was made by the MACC chief commissioner who “officially” stated that the agency had discovered the RM94 million in cash at the former minister’s home.
MACC later said neither chief commissioner Azam Baki nor the commission had made any statement regarding the discovery of the said amount.
Today, Dewan Rakyat deputy speaker Ramli Nor said he would leave it to Speaker Johari Abdul to decide on the matter after Jelutong MP RSN Rayer called for Awang’s suspension.
