3 children, including newborn killed in Simpang Pulai crash

Three children were killed while a woman suffered serious injuries when the car they were travelling in was involved in an accident at KM272.4 of the North-South Expressway (NSE) near Simpang Pulai, here.

It is learnt that one of the victims was a newborn.

A Perak Fire and Rescue Department spokesperson said they were alerted to the incident at 3.01pm today.

“The accident involved a Perodua Alza and two lorries. A woman who is the driver of the car sustained severe injuries while the three children travelling with her died at the scene.

“We had to use a special rescue tool to extricate the victims’ bodies which were pinned to their seats.

“The deceased were handed over to the police and taken to the Raja Permaisuri Bainun Hospital for post-mortem,” the spokesperson said.

The identities of all the victims have yet to be released. Nst
