Razman suspended as Perak PAS chief

PETALING JAYA: Razman Zakaria has reportedly been suspended from his duties as the Perak PAS chief.

PAS’s leadership decided to suspend Razman following several issues involving the Gunung Semanggol assemblyman, including his claim last month that DAP MP Hannah Yeoh was linked to the Yeoh family of the YTL Corporation Bhd conglomerate, Sinar Harian reported.

His duties are temporarily being carried out by PAS vice-president and Bagan Serai MP Idris Ahmad.

A source from Perak PAS said no official notification has been received regarding the matter.

“There has been no official letter regarding this (suspension),” the source said.

Meanwhile, a poster of Razman wishing Muslims “Happy Ramadan” did not include the “Perak PAS commissioner” title.

The poster on his Facebook page only described Razman as the opposition leader in the Perak state assembly, Gunung Semanggol assemblyman, and deputy Perak PN chairman.

Deputy Perak PAS commissioner Akmal Kamaruddin declined to comment, the report said.

Last month, Razman apologised for claiming that Hannah was linked to the Yeoh business family.

In a Facebook post, he acknowledged the factual error he made in a speech that went viral on social media.

In December, Razman issued a public apology to Teluk Intan MP and federal minister Nga Kor Ming over a statement accusing him of being involved in a parade where some participants had waved China’s national flag.

The controversy arose after a video was shared online showing a group of people waving the Chinese flag near the Leaning Tower in Teluk Intan during a temple festival and parade on Oct 24.
