Fuziah to propose suspension of PKR’s Wangsa Maju division

PETALING JAYA: PKR secretary-general Fuziah Salleh has announced that she will propose the suspension of the party’s Wangsa Maju division, the recent meeting of which failed to comply with the party’s constitution.

Fuziah told FMT that the proposal would be submitted to the PKR central leadership council for confirmation.

She said that on March 1, the division was instructed to hold a special general meeting to resubmit its 2024 financial statements which had not been approved by the secretary-general’s office.

“However, the issue remains unresolved as the meeting did not comply with the party’s constitutional requirements. As a result, the special AGM cannot be validated, and the division is now being proposed for suspension,” she told FMT.

Fuziah said the suspension would remain in effect until further notice from the secretary-general’s office, after the PKR congress.

The meeting yesterday turned chaotic and ended after only 20 minutes following claims that it was being held irregularly.

Several members said they were not satisfied with the way the meeting was conducted as they were not given the opportunity to seek clarification on the alleged manipulation of information in the financial statements that the AGM approved on March 1.

The division’s treasurer, Chook Kin Heng, urged the party leadership to investigate the alleged forgery in the 2024 financial statement, which was denied by division chief Lai Chen Heng.

Speaking to FMT, Chook denied signing the financial statements presented at the AGM on March 1, claiming that his signature had been forged.

He has since lodged a police report and a complaint with the party to have the issue investigated and prevent any harm to PKR’s reputation.

Fuziah emphasised that PKR has a constitution and guidelines governing the administration of divisions and special AGMs.

“The secretary-general’s actions are guided by proper governance in overseeing each meeting and special general meeting, ensuring compliance with the established guidelines – regardless of whether there are complaints or allegations,” she said.
