PETALING JAYA: Amanah will coordinate nationwide police reports to urge an investigation into PAS’s alleged repeated use of slander and divisive politics.

This comes after Kedah menteri besar Sanusi Nor allegedly claimed during the Himpunan Ummah Selamatkan Malaysia event yesterday that Amanah was “created by DAP”.

Amanah secretary-general Faiz Fadzil dismissed Sanusi’s claim as a desperate attempt to sway public perception against his party.

“Amanah, through its mobilisation bureau, will ensure that police reports are filed nationwide so that an investigation can be conducted into PAS, which has become increasingly addicted to promoting a culture of slander and division,” he said in a statement.

Faiz stressed that Amanah was not created by DAP or any other party, but by former members of PAS and individuals from civil society who wanted a more progressive and moderate Islamic movement.

“Amanah is not PAS 2.0 and will continue to engage in politics based on values.

“It is one of Amanah’s duties to protect Muslims and Malaysians from being misled by PAS’s cheap political games,” he said.

Faiz described the accusation by PAS as part of the party’s coordinated attacks to weaken Amanah, which has grown nationwide with 180 divisions and helped form the federal government twice.

He also said Amanah’s mission is to uphold a progressive and inclusive vision of Islam.

Earlier today, Amanah mobilisation bureau deputy chief Rafizal Ali filed a police report against Teluk Intan PAS Youth chief Nurhafizul Badrul Hisham for allegedly making defamatory statements against the party.

Rafizal was quoted by Utusan Malaysia as saying that Amanah was “deeply affected” by an article published on HarakahDaily yesterday, which claimed that the party was being used as a tool by DAP to promote secularism.

“The allegation is slanderous and malicious, and creates a negative perception of Amanah,” he said.

The report was filed at the Shah Alam police headquarters.
