PETALING JAYA: About 200 members of the opposition and NGOs today took part in the Himpunan Bangkit Ummah, held to protest against DAP ministers Hannah Yeoh and Nga Kor Ming for allegedly disrupting the harmony of Muslims in the country.

Organised by PAS Youth, Bersatu and several NGOs, the rally began at Masjid Jamek after Friday prayers, and proceeded to the Dang Wangi police headquarters to file police reports.

The participants carried placards with messages such as “Don’t Disrupt Islam”, “DAP Must Respect the Constitution”, and chanted “Reject DAP”, “Destroy DAP”, “Sack Hannah” and “Sack Nga”.

Among the Perikatan Nasional leaders present were PAS deputy youth chief Hafez Sabri, Bersatu information chief Tun Faisal Ismail Aziz, and Bersatu Youth information chief Harris Idaham Rashid.

Also present were Pejuang information chief Rafique Rashid Ali, and Gerakan Pembela Ummah chairman Zai Mustafa.

Hafez said the reports lodged against youth and sports minister Yeoh, and housing and local government minister Nga were because their actions had disrupted the harmony of Muslims.

He said the report against Yeoh was related to her book “Becoming Hannah: A Personal Journey”, which was alleged to contain subtle Christian proselytisation, while Nga was accused of organising a Christmas celebration in a government office.

“This rally serves as a stern warning to DAP not to disrupt the (harmony of) Muslims in this country,” he said.
