I’m prepared to be suspended by PKR, says Hassan

PETALING JAYA: Pasir Gudang MP Hassan Karim says he will not appeal any disciplinary action against him, including suspension of his party membership, should the PKR disciplinary board come to such a decision tomorrow.

Hassan said he will respect the party’s decision-making process, Berita Harian reported.

“I attended a hearing with the disciplinary board on Thursday, but no decision has been made yet. Based on the hearing, they will make a recommendation on the outcome.

“It will then be referred to the PKR political bureau and, subsequently, to the central leadership council, chaired by the party president. A decision is expected tomorrow,” he was quoted as saying at a press conference in Pasir Gudang, Johor.

Hassan was summoned over his public criticism of the government, including the decision to award the rollout of the second 5G network to U Mobile.

According to a source, he was accused of smearing PKR’s image.

The source said Hassan was also accused by the party of insulting the Yang di-Pertuan Agong.

PKR disciplinary board chairman Tan Yee Kew said a final decision on Hassan’s fate would be made by the top leadership.

Hassan previously told FMT in an interview that Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim had given him the green light to write on any topic, as long as he avoided criticism of the monarchy.
