Sim slams netizen for insulting his adopted daughter on social media

PETALING JAYA: Human resources minister Steven Sim has criticised a netizen, believed to be a member of a political party, who insulted his adopted daughter on social media.
The Penang DAP chairman said he did not mind if the opposition wanted to insult him and was ready to forgive them if necessary.
“When engaging in politics, be moderate.”
The Bukit Mertajam MP was referring to a viral video on social media showing a supporter of a political party insulting a teenage girl who became Sim’s adopted daughter last September.

The man also claimed that Sim did not offer help to the teenager, who was involved in an accident.
Instead, he claimed that she received assistance from Permatang Pauh MP Fawwaz Jan, who contributed RM150.
Meanwhile, Rosly Yusof, Sim’s officer at his Bukit Mertajam parliamentary office, said on Facebook that he had visited the teenage girl immediately after the accident.
He added that the teenager also received a monthly living allowance of RM200 through the “YB’s Adopted Child” programme and her welfare was being taken care of throughout her studies in Melaka.
Sim chose the teenage girl as his adopted daughter last year and promised to support her until she completes her studies.
This assistance was given even though the teenager’s family resides in the Permatang Pauh constituency.
