Musician Ahmad Nawab passes away
PETALING JAYA: Legendary musician Tan Sri Ahmad Nawab has passed away at his residence in Gombak, Selangor.
Ahmad Khan Nawab Khan, 92, died at 3.15pm on Saturday (Nov 23) after experiencing breathing difficulties, confirmed his son Nasir Nawab.
Nasir said that his father was warded at the National Heart Institute (IJN).
“My father’s condition has been poor since last month. I was beside him when he died,” he told mStar on Sunday (Nov 24).
The late Ahmad Nawab produced over 200 albums and worked with household names such as Datuk Khadijah Ibrahim, Ramlah Ram, Sudirman and Hetty Koes Endang.

He is also credited with writing 2,000 songs in the 1950s, including the iconic ‘Malaysia Truly Asia’ sung by Khadijah Ibrahim.
His contributions towards the arts earned him an honorary doctorate from Universiti Putra Malaysia.
In 2006, he went on to work in RTM Orchestra for 17 years and was granted the Anugerah Seniman Negara.
He was also awarded the Panglima Setia Mahkota in conjunction with the official birthday of Yang di-Pertuan Agong Al-Sultan Abdullah Ri’ayatuddin Al-Mustafa Billah Shah.
