Kelantan to update conditions for cinemas in the state
KOTA BHARU: Kelantan government will hold further discussions about the conditions necessary for cinemas in the state, following applications from several companies.
Sinar Harian reported that the state Islamic development, dakwah, information, and regional relations committee chairman, Asri Mat Daud, stated that existing conditions would be refined before a decision is made on the cinema applications.
He explained that the state government previously outlined the necessary conditions for opening a cinema.
“There are strict conditions in place, and the leadership has made it clear that the opening of cinemas is permitted only if these conditions are met,” he said during the Tarbawi Ijtimak 10.0 Kelantan Islamic Education Center (Putik) for the Tarbawi 10.0 Ijtimak on Saturday (Oct 2).
He added that his party would provide updates after the state government meeting.

It was reported that the Kelantan Government has never prohibited the opening of cinemas. However, operators must comply with fairly strict conditions, including avoiding screenings in dark environments to prevent unwanted elements.
Those interested in opening a cinema in Kelantan must also observe prayer times, particularly Maghrib and Isyak, due to the limited time for prayers.
