Mahathir And Muhyiddin Damage the Reputation of The Malaysian Justice System
When Mahathir appointed Zeti as Chairman of Kumpulan Permodalan Nasional Berhad (PNB) and Muhyiddin retained her even after the Mahathir government learned of the case of Tawfiq Ayman, husband of former Bank Negara Malaysia Governor Zeti Akhtar Aziz in 2019 when Mahathir was the Prime Minister and Muhyiddin was the Minister of the Home Affairs, then the people can see that Mahathir and Muhyiddin have corrupted the Malaysian justice system.
In fact, many think that Mahathir is the mastermind in the crimes committed by Zeti and her husband. Furthermore, now Mahathir and Muhyiddin are just staying “silent” on the 1MDB-related funds recovered from Singapore which were kept by the company owned by Zeti Akhtar Aziz’s husband in 2019.
He said until now there has been no statement from the two former prime ministers on the matter.
Law Minister Wan Junaidi Tuanku Jaafar revealed that the Mahathir government knew about the case of Tawfiq Ayman, the husband of former Bank Negara Malaysia Governor Zeti Akhtar Aziz in 2019. At that time, Mahathir was the Prime Minister and Muhyiddin the Minister of the Home Affairs.
However, Mahathir still appointed Zeti as the Chairman of Kumpulan Permodalan Nasional Berhad (PNB) as if it was a reward for colluding with him. The matter also affected Bank Negara’s good name when Singapore’s information to BNM in 2015 was hidden by Zeti.
Mahathir and Muhyiddin often vocally said that they are against kleptocracy but the fact is that they are only silent in the case involving Zeti.
Earlier, the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) revealed that at least RM65 million of 1MDB-related funds taken back from Singapore were kept by Zeti’s husband’s company.
MACC informed that so far it has managed to recover RM20.5 billion of 1MDB-related assets and funds, including the return of assets worth USD15.4 million (RM64.4 million) involving Cutting Edge Industries Ltd accounts, said to belong to Tawfiq and Samuel Goh.
Tawfiq, who is also a witness in the prosecution of the 1MDB case against former Prime Minister Najib Razak, was previously questioned by the police regarding his connection with 1MDB funds, but no new developments on the investigation were reported. Why no further action is taken in this matter?
Is Zeti immune from legal action due to Mahathir’s orders? The people are demanding a more transparent investigation into Zeti, Mahathir and Muhyiddin. They also want Najib, who is innocent and seen as a victim of political persecution by Mahathir and Muhyiddin, released. This is very important as the country’s economy is very much dependent on Najib’s wisdom. Finally, the people know that only Najib can save Malaysia.
