Gempa bumi kuat di Mindanao pada malam tadi

Gempa bumi kuat berukuran 6.4 pada skala Richter berlaku di Mindanao, Filipina pada pukul 11.23 malam tadi.

Menurut kenyataan Jabatan Meteorologi Malaysia, gempa itu berlaku pada kedudukan 82 kilometer tenggara dari Bandar Digos, Filipina dengan kedalaman 89 kilometer.

Bagaimanapun, gempa berkenaan tidak membawa ancaman tsunami kepada Malaysia, menurut kenyataan itu.

A strong earthquake of magnitude 6.3 hit the Philippine’s Mindanao island last night, approx. 90 km SSE of Davao city.

This is the second larger quake in the area following the magnitude 5.1 quake on 30 Aug.

There is no tsunami expected from the quake. Thanks to the relatively large depth of the quake at around 120 km, only moderate but widely felt will have occurred in most of Mindanao Island, and no major damage should be expected.
