No truth to messages warning of incidents amidst political turmoil, say Sabah police
Viral messages being circulated claiming that unwanted incidents are bound to happen in the city amid the political turmoil in Sabah are fake news, say the police.
Kota Kinabalu OCPD Asst Comm Habibi Majinji (pic) on Thursday (July 30) said there was no truth to these messages, and there was no need for anyone to believe it.
“The situation in the city is under control and fine at the moment,” he said in a statement.
He also warned the public against spreading fake news.
“Do not spread messages that can cause panic among the public,” ACP Habibi said.
One of the messages being shared stated: “Do not go out into the city today (July 30, 2020) for safety precautions as something untoward might happen following the Istana Negeri’s announcement”.
