SUNGAl PETANI: A young couple were left shocked after returning home from work to find their house in Bandar Puteri Jaya here broken into and their car stolen last Monday.

The couple, both in their 20s, work in Penang and only discovered the break-in at about 6.45pm after returning home.

The wife, Nur Amizah Hadirah Jamaludin, said they had left their house at about 6.30am that morning to avoid traffic congestion on their way to work.

“Based on information from our neighbour, someone was seen coming to our house at about 8am, but the neighbour thought the person was a family member,” she said when contacted today.

She said the front gate was closed when they arrived home, but the main door had been forced open.

“Our white Suzuki Swift was missing and the inside of the house was in disarray. Jewellery, including gold that we had kept, as well as my duit mas kahwin, were stolen,” she said, adding that the couple had only moved into the house five months ago.

Following the incident, Nur Amizah and her husband, Ameer Syafiq Shamsuri, lodged a police report on the same day.

She said they also shared details of the incident on social media and appealed to the public for information.

“A reward will be given to anyone with accurate information regarding the stolen items. They can also report it directly to the police,” she said.

The couple have suffered losses exceeding RM10,000 in the incident.

Police are investigating the case under Section 457 of the Penal Code for housebreaking and Section 379A of the Penal Code for motor vehicle theft.
