Ampang forest fire spotted near SUKE highway dies down

KUALA LUMPUR: The massive forest fire spotted near Menara Indah Apartment Taman Tun Abdul Razak in Ampang has since died down.

A fire rescue tender (FRT) and a police patrol car were seen leaving The Peak @ Taman Tun Abdul Razak, a nearby elevated residential area, around 11.50pm last night.

Senior Fire Officer II Narmi Othman, when contacted earlier, said the firefighters were observing the blaze from the site.

A New Straits Times reporter who was at the scene observed that the fire was barely visible from the highest points of the residential area earlier.

Earlier, a video circulated online showing a huge blaze towering above homes near the Bukit Kembara trail alongside the Sungai Besi–Ulu Klang Elevated Expressway (SUKE) in Ampang.

Selangor Fire and Rescue Department assistant director of operations Ahmad Mukhlis Mukhtar confirmed it to be a forest fire and that firefighters from the Ampang Fire and Rescue Station had been deployed to the location.
