Amazing rewards for Simpan SSPN depositors

WHAT initially seemed like a scam call turned into a tears-of-joy moment for retired teacher and single mother Umi Kalsum Abd Razak, who won a Mercedes-Benz A-Class A250 through her Skim Simpanan Pendidikan Nasional (Simpan SSPN).

Umi, 56, who was at the Cabutan Simpan SSPN 2026 launch on Thursday, said she can hardly believe that a simple act of saving for her children would bring such an extraordinary reward.

She was one of the winners of the Cabutan WOW! Simpan SSPN 2025 campaign.

This year, the National Higher Education Fund Corporation (PTPTN) is offering prizes worth nearly RM1.4 million to 954 winners.

Three categories are being offered — WOW! Plus Loyalty 2026 (draw from Jan 1 to Dec 31, 2026), WOW! Plus Series (three series of draws throughout 2026) and Simpan SSPN Baru Slay! (two series of draws from Jan 1 to June 30).

The WOW! Plus Loyalty 2026 grand prize is a Honda CR-V, with two Perodua Ativa for second prize winners and RM30,000 each for three third-place winners. Another 250 participants will take home RM1,000 cash each.

For the WOW! Plus Series, first prize winners will receive RM20,000, second prize RM15,000 is for two winners and third prize RM10,000 is for three winners, while 50 participants will win RM500 each.

The Simpan SSPN Baru Slay! grand prize is a Yamaha NVX 155 motorcycle, with iPhone 17 Pro for four second-place winners and DJI Osmo Pocket 3 Creator combos for 10 third-place winners. A consolation prize of RM500 goes to 250 participants.

Meanwhile, Umi said her late husband had started contributing to Simpan SSPN for their six children about nine years ago and after his passing, she continued the practice.

“What I have today could be yours in the future and this isn’t the only benefit of Simpan SSPN, there are many more, such as tax relief,” she said.

Suhaida Raeze, who opened her children’s Simpan SSPN accounts only last year, was surprised to win first prize in the “WOW! Superheroes” category, taking home RM30,000 in cash.

The IT consultant said she chose the lowest package — RM30 per month for her two daughters.

“When I did my research, I found that Simpan SSPN is Shariah-compliant and also provides protection. So I felt more confident in saving with it. Parents need to think about their children’s future as we never know what might happen. Saving even just RM30 a month can make a big difference,” she said.

Another winner, Evita Ang Yen Yen, who has been saving with Simpan SSPN for almost a decade, said she enjoyed the competitive dividend offered — around 4.05 per cent last year — as well as other benefits such as tax relief.

Evita, who won a Toyota Vios 1.5G, said she had been saving with the goal of future use and did not expect such a reward.

“I encourage everyone to save with Simpan SSPN because there are so many benefits, and who knows, you could be the next winner,” said the environmental officer.

Muhammad Firdaus Nawawi, 46, who has been saving consistently with Simpan SSPN for almost two decades, said the fund is especially important for funding his children’s education.

“There’s the tax relief, and of course, the prize draws. Alhamdulillah, I never intended to win, I was simply saving for my children. This is truly their blessing,” said the father of four.

He said consistent saving is crucial as the future becomes more challenging and education costs rise.

“Parents must take responsibility. Every child deserves a bright future. Even small contributions make a difference. Over time, it all adds up. I started with just RM50 per child and years later, I’ve been rewarded in unexpected ways,” she said.

In her speech during the launch, PTPTN chairman Datuk Seri Norliza Abdul Rahim said the Cabutan Simpan SSPN is an annual campaign launched by PTPTN in 2015 to recognise depositors’ support while encouraging a culture of saving in the community.

To participate, depositors simply need to open an account or add to their savings during the campaign period.

“Every RM50 saved, including savings and takaful contributions automatically qualifies the depositor for five draws.

“For those saving RM50 via the myPTPTN app, salary deduction or direct debit, they receive 10 entries,” she said.
