Umno not eyeing seats? Don’t lie, says Johor PKR Youth

PETALING JAYA: Johor PKR Youth has hit back at its Umno counterpart as the two allies lock horns again over the issue of seat allocation in the state ahead of the next general election.

Johor PKR Youth chief Faezuddin Puad said it was inaccurate of his opposite number in Umno, Noor Azleen Ambros, to accuse PKR of being hasty or greedy in announcing its intention to contest for three parliamentary seats in the state.

Faezuddin also dismissed Noor Azleen’s call for politicians of ruling parties to focus on serving the people, saying they can do that while planning for the next elections at the same time.

“The reality is that early planning such as this is a normal matter for all political parties, including Umno.

“He would be lying to say Umno has not started planning on its strategies to win the next general election, and which seats they want to contest.

“Don’t be a hypocrite. The main agenda of any political party is to win elections and form a stable government, and then work to resolve the people’s issues through effective programmes and policies,” he said in a Facebook post.

Faezuddin also took a swipe at Johor Umno, accusing it of claiming to be allies with Pakatan Harapan in the state but refusing to hold negotiations or share positions and power.

Yesterday, Johor PKR chief Dr Zaliha Mustafa said the state leadership’s new lineup wanted to regain the Muar, Pagoh and Mersing parliamentary seats.

She believed that the party had a good chance of winning the Muar seat, currently held by former PH ally, Syed Saddiq Syed Abdul Rahman.

This prompted Noor Azleen to criticise Johor PKR for being over-eager and greedy, saying this did not reflect any empathy for the people who are facing various issues.
