Farhan Baharudin was allowed bail of RM8,000 with one surety, and ordered to report to a police station once a month.

PETALING JAYA: A lorry driver pleaded not guilty in the Kuala Lumpur sessions court today to a charge of attempting to kill a policeman by running him over with a four-wheel drive vehicle.

Bernama reported that Farhan Baharudin, 34, was charged with committing the offence against Sallehin Ab Rahman, 35.

Farhan allegedly caused the victim to suffer “an abrasion wound over the right knee and right elbow and bruising over the right lower chest wall”, injuries which could have been fatal.

The offence was allegedly committed at the Ampang-Kuala Lumpur Elevated Highway exit to Jalan Tun Razak at 9.05am on Aug 8.

The charge under Section 307 of the Penal Code provides for up to 10 years’ imprisonment and a fine, and up to 20 years’ imprisonment if injury is caused.

Judge Izralizam Sanusi allowed Farhan bail of RM8,000 with one surety and ordered him to report to a nearby police station once a month. The court set Oct 6 for mention.

Deputy public prosecutor Faizah Khalilah Zaberi appeared for the prosecution while lawyer Fikah Sanusi represented Farhan.
