PETALING JAYA: The road transport department (JPJ) has suspended the vocational driving licence of the bus driver involved in the accident which killed 15 Universiti Pendidikan Sultan Idris (UPSI) students in Gerik, Perak.
JPJ said Amirul Fadhil Zulkifle’s licence is suspended until its investigation into the incident is completed.
In a statement today, it also said it has opened an investigation paper into the owner of the company that operated the vehicle.
The bus, carrying 42 UPSI students, was travelling from Jertih, Terengganu, to UPSI’s main campus in Tanjung Malim, Perak, on June 9 when it collided with a car at Km53 of the East-West Highway in Gerik.
Thirteen students died at the scene, and two more died while receiving treatment in hospital.
